So yeah…this is sad

The Toronto Blue Jays overtook the New York Yankees in the standings. So yes god, you took Tom Brady from us. But you also placed the Yankees one away from the bottom of the standings. Worse yet, you’ve placed a team from CANADA in front of the greatest ball club in the history of the game (that is overall and that’s the truth…you know this!) I’m quite upset by this obviously even though I said in an earlier post that I was over it. What I wasn’t over though was them falling further down the standings. I am fine with them being out of the playoffs, but that number 3 spot was theirs this year.

I just needed to get that out.

(Author’s Note: I mean no offense to the great nation of Canada, our fine neighbor to the north. I love their clean lands and multi-lingual country men)

There is a god

Though I usually don’t wish harm upon others, Tom Brady has been an exception. After his douchness with Bridget Moynahan and leaving her while she was pregnant to bang a super model, I didn’t like him. Then lets not forget how much he is a douche on the field and the stories I’ve heard of him being quite the crybaby. Also lets not forget how he plays with the New England Patriots and I’ve been known to hate the Pats quite a bit. I will never forget the Ravens game from last year and the anger is caused inside of me, especially when Tom Brady claims he heard the whistle.

So I can’t contain my jubilation at the fact that Tom Brady is hurt and possibly out for the year. There is indeed a God and he has heard mine (and many other) prayers. I do love how Kissing Suzy Kolber has handled the situation. It’s a happy time indeed.

Is that…Michael Vick?? No! It’s Joe Flacco!

Hey you know all that stuff I said before. Yeah…

I still mean it. But because you ran in for a touchdown today and went about 50 yards doing it. I’ll give you a free pass card. You can use it one time, any time before the end of the season. So the next time you throw a pick, get sacked or just lead the team to that 10th loss of the year. Just take that card out and know I won’t be upset with you that one time.

Can’t say the same for the next time. Just be glad beer bottles are plastic in stadiums now. Anyway keep using that Super Flacco Power and keep on leading that team to victory. As long as you do well and help the team grow, I’ll be happy with you.

This looks fair

So this is why you never see me talk about the Heavyweight boxing division.  First off I am scared to because one of these men might read this and come after me… I mean look at him, hes a giant.  Second, it’s because it is such a circus division these days.  I’ve talked about that before and pined for Kimbo Slice to show up.  Don’t get me started there though.

I miss the great days of heavyweight boxing.

Oh god why…?

So…was it that hard for the Ravens to pick up Daunte Culpepper!? He retired for the lack of not being able to find a job. Oh I dunno maybe we could have picked him up off his retired ass, dropped Kyle Boller into a small, shallow grave and then not start this hack on Sunday. I mean in my eyes, anything is better.

Do I think Flacco will be good in time, sure. Do I think he is the savior of TODAY? Not at all. Do I have a football season full of tears and pain on my hands? you bet. It’s gonna be like watching “Schindler’s List” every Sunday.

Worst part is there are no Broncos games on in my area unless it’s a national game. Woe is my boring ass.

Hey yeah! Baseball is still around!

So in these days of hard ships and catastrophe, a man needs to come to a realization. He needs to choke up, swallow his pride and say things he doesn’t want to. So here goes…the Yankees are not going to make the post-season.

Whew! that was tough. Tougher than I thought. But it is reality. With the Rays playing as well as they are and the Red Sox still being a thorn in my side, the Yankees with their bad luck and poor playing (on paper…it’s a great team…in action…not so much) don’t stand much of a chance. So now I find myself rooting on the Twins and Rays to keep the Red Sox out and also turn my sights to the National League.

Yes the NL, a portion of the league where the old rules still apply. Where pitchers are giving bats and forced to fend for themselves…AKA waste at bats. Still it’s also a league that when my A-team is out, I can root for teams and not feel guilty.

Plus I do actually like some National League teams and they are doing well. The Chicago Cubs are having one of the best years of their franchise history and the New York Mets (I do love New York) are leading their division by 3 (nope 2 now…great.)

Plus those two races with the Phillies and the Brewers are much more fun to pay attention to because I have no emotional investment in them. I don’t hate the Brewers and Phillies like I do the Red Sox or White Sox. I don’t feel that bitter feeling when they win and the Yankees lose. This post season will be much more enjoyable for me if the Red Sox don’t make it in though. I won’t have to lose my head yelling at teams like the Angels, Tampa Bay or Chicago to pick up slack. It’ll be much much better for my health.

Either way, the MLB is reaching it’s final stretch and now is the most entertaining time of the year. I’m actually happy I missed the beginning of the season as opposed to missing the end by taking a fall semester abroad. It would have been a mistake.

UPDATE:

I almost forgot.  The Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals are both officially on fishing duty.  It was fun while it lasted for 2 weeks but you should have saw this coming.

The sound of weeping can be heard across the countryside…The Redskins must of lost

So the 2008 NFL season started on Thursday with the match-up between the New York Football Giants and the Washington Redskins. As I could of told you four months ago, the Redskins lost. In fact I would say they didn’t only lose the game, they lost some confidence. This is because on paper, the team is supposed to be good. Herr Snyder does pay enough money for players like Jason Taylor and the offense is full of decent running and passing options. Heck I’ll even give Jason Campbell the benefit of the doubt even if he can’t pass the ball more than 5 yards a time.

I could care less about the Giants even. I don’t want to mention them. They did their job for me last year so now they can go back to being that team I see on Sundays when I want to watch another game. Eli Manning is still a he-haw and always will be.

But yes…rejoice…football is back. But that also means bullriding is back. Which means my blood pressure is rising. Which means I’ll be spending some good time at the Buffalo Wild Wings.

It’s Flacco-Mania!

Hey it’s Pro Football Quarterback Joe Flacco. The savior of Baltimore football. Right?? Right!?!?

Well if my gut feeling that he will get better than he was last night is true, then I’ll agree. However, my brain tells me that he won’t be good any time soon. And this savior crap is just that, crap.

The only real truth I can give you about the Baltimore Ravens for this season is that Kyle Boller will be the starting quarterback and I believe that is enough to kill my season right off the bat.

As for Joe Flacco, if he is blowing a game (even though it’s pre-season) against the 3rd String New England Patriots, he has a lot of work to do.

I weep for the future of Ravens football.

Glory, Glory Hallelujah!

It’s celebration time (and very late I might say) as the Wizards resigned Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas to new contracts. This ends my worrying that Agent Zero and Jamison may leave for other prospects and also helps prove me correct with all my boasting that they will never get rid of them. I stand by the idea that the Wizards are contenders when the entire team is healthy. With luck that will happen and I won’t have to see another Celtics – Lakers final for a few more years.

New York, New York…Yankees heat up and Mets manage to make up for yesterday

Both the New York Mets and New York Yankees won Weds making me a very happy New York baseball fan. The Yankees kept their winning streak alive behind Mike Mussina who pitched 8 scoreless innings. This is the 10th win for the Yankees who are 3 1/2 games out of first place. This just goes to prove once again that my father was right when he said the Yankees don’t start to play until it gets hot.

On the other side of town, the Mets avenged their embarrassing loss last night by beating the Phillies 6-3 on the wings of a Jose Reyes home-run. Billy Wagner made an appearance at the end of the game and surprisingly didn’t give up any runs or hits. Sure this doesn’t wipe the slate clean for the team, but it does help. It makes me happy to see them win, even though I didn’t really start liking until their historic loss slide last year (it was strangely endearing to me…plus I read “The Bad Guys Won” so I had Mets fever at the wrong time.)
